What to do in Baguio City for couples ?
If you are heading to Baguio city then you may be surprised to see a much different side of the Philippines. For one, there are no picturesque beaches here. Baguio city is situated in the Benguet mountains and offers a refreshing escape from the tropical beaches of the country, especially if you are a couple looking for a getaway.
For those wondering what to do in Baguio, don’t worry. Just because it doesn’t have the tropical beaches of Boracay, there are plenty of fun and romantic adventures to be had in Baguio city.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
1- Hit the City Market
A fun way to spend the morning with your loved one is to get some local culture by hitting the Baguio city open air market. Situated right in the center just off Sessions road, this giant market is a fantastic place to explore as a couple as you will both be blown away by the local experience. Hold your partners hand as you weave between stalls of fresh fish, vegetables, fruit, trinkets, clothing and arts and crafts. It’s a great place to start your Baguio city adventure as you leave feeling buzzed by the atmosphere.
2- Mines View Park
One of the best things to do in Baguio City is to get away from the noise and experience a different part of Filipino nature by climbing this steep hill. Bring comfortable shoes as you and your partner will have to overcome the steep stairs before you reach the top. Once there, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding mountains as well as a variety of shops and attractions. Before you leave, don’t forget to make a wish at the wishing well.
3- Have a fun night out on Harrison Road
No romantic trip is complete without a fun night out and for all the night action, you need to head to Harrison road. One of the best parts of the Philippines is the huge range of thrift shopping and the stretch of Harrison road between Burnham Park and Session road offers some of the best (and cheap) clothes, accessories and of course street food. Rather than staying holed up in your hotel, put on some casual and comfortable clothes and hit the streets for a fun night out of thrift shopping while snacking on local grub. The action kicks off after 9pm.
4- Grab a drink at Café in the sky
Situated just before La Presa is this romantic café which is adequately named Café in the sky. You will need to crab a taxi to get there as it is located outside of the city limits but it’s well worth going just to feel as though you are amongst the clouds. The best time to head out there is in the early afternoon as this is when the views tend to be clearer. Don’t forget to charge your camera as you will most likely be taking some photos with your special someone as the views up top are nothing short of spectacular.
5- Picnic at Camp John Hay
This spot used to be a recreational facility for the US military but today it is accessible to everyone as it has since been modified into a private resort. It is a fantastic place to visit for some peace and quiet with your loved one as there are plenty of areas to picnic, walk and simply take in the tranquil environment. Highlights include the Secret garden, a butterfly sanctuary and the Bell House and Bell Amphitheater.
