So whether you live in Manila and need a break or are planning a trip through the Philippines and want to tack on some romance to your whirlwind vacation, these weekend getaways near Manila will surely put love in the air!
1- Villa Escudero
This stunningly beautiful colonial-style home was once a coconut and sugar cane plantation that belonged to the Escudero family. It’s been here since 1880 and it is filled with historical charms. It’s only 2 hours from Manila too, so you can travel back to the olden days. The surrounding grounds are breathtaking, complete with waterfall. Plus, the bamboo canoes make it possible to steal away from the other tourists and enjoy some prime one-on-one time.
The slightly cooler climate and cleaner air quality makes Tagaytay an excellent spot to run off to. Close to Manila, it has some pretty spectacular sights. The Taal Volcano in the middle of Taal Lake comes to mind. From the boat ride and on up, you’ll have plenty of gorgeous views. The town is known for excellent food too, so once you’ve enjoyed all the adventure you can stand, you can stroll hand in hand to find the perfect place for a dinner for two.
3- The Virgin Islands
No, not the BVI, but in the Philippines, there is a cluster of three small islands that are barely known to tourists. Borawan, Lampas, and Dampalitan offer that beach getaway you’re hoping for without the crowds and for a much more economic trip than you expected. There are plenty of opportunities to connect with nature and each other in these solitary parts with pristine beaches and even camping for the rugged couple too.
4- Puerto Galera
Here is another cheap option for getting away from it all nearby Manila. What makes this beach vacation destination so interesting though is that in addition to providing a bit of solitude, it is in an area that is referred to as the Golden Triangle, where the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia meet. It’s also known worldwide for diving because of the incredible diversity of the marine life. So for couples that love to do more than just relax with each other, you can make a splash together diving into your love.
It’s a little bit further out than the other destinations on our list at 4 hours from Manila, but the coast of Zambales has those white sand beaches and that turquoise water that look like it came right out of a postcard. Don’t miss the Capones Islands where you can see the old Capones lighthouse for a view of the horizon, or the Anawangin Cave which is a little bit hidden. Other sights make this a place that truly has it all for your romantic getaway just outside Manila.
